Outremer was founded in 1984 in La Grande-Motte by Gérard Danson with an idea that has stayed the same: a light, fast catamaran made for world cruising, the opposite of volume catamarans. The yard belongs to the Grand Large Yachting group.
The range covers 13 to 17 m: Outremer 45, 48, 52 and 55, with VPLP designs, slim infused hulls, deep rudders and daggerboards, and an outside wheel for the pleasure of helming. Owners are supported by a training school at the yard.
Strengths: catamarans that genuinely sail, a community of world-cruising owners, excellent and fast resale, and a yard that trains its clients before departure.
