Hanse was founded in 1990 in Greifswald, on the Baltic, by Michael Schmidt, and became within twenty years the second-largest sailing yacht builder in Europe. The listed HanseYachts group also includes Dehler, Moody, Fjord, Sealine and Privilège.

The Hanse range covers 9 to 20 m, from the 315 to the 675, with designs by Judel/Vrolijk then Berret-Racoupeau, a self-tacking rig as standard and interiors customisable through the configurator. The yard also produces the group's other brands in Greifswald.

Strengths: a fast cruiser that is easy short-handed, fluid resale in Europe, and large yachts at a much lower budget than semi-custom.
