Amels has built in Vlissingen, Zeeland, since 1918, first commercial vessels and then, from the 1980s, yachts. The yard has belonged since 1991 to the Damen group, one of the largest shipbuilders in the Netherlands, and today forms the core of Damen Yachting.
The house invented the semi-custom superyacht with its Limited Editions range: platforms from 55 to 80 m whose hull and systems are started before the sale, halving the lead time, with a fully bespoke interior. Beyond that, full custom goes up to 110 m. Damen Yachting also builds the SeaXplorer explorers and the Yacht Support vessels.
Before you sign: an Amels Limited Editions is delivered in two to three years, while a full custom takes four years or more. Flag, class and build code are decided at contract stage. It is a reference house for a first superyacht over 50 m, precisely because the framework is proven.
