Sabre was founded in 1970 in Maine, first for sailing yachts, and has devoted itself since 2000 to downeast-style motor yachts, the heritage of New England fishing boats. The yard created in 2003 the more accessible sister brand Back Cove.
The Sabre range covers 12 to 20 m: Sabre 43, 48, 58 and 65, as salon express and flybridge, with infused hulls and cherry interiors. Back Cove covers 9 to 13 m in outboard and inboard.
Strengths: the most accomplished downeast style, recognised Maine construction, and two brands for two budgets.
